Florida is home to 44 native species of snakes, but only 6 of them are venomous--do you know which 6?
Snakes are a vital part of Florida's wildlife, and most native species are harmless to humans. Sadly, the survival of many of our snakes is threatened by development, road mortality, and public misperception. With the help of this DVD/CD set, you can reduce your risk of being bitten and allow Florida's snakes to play their role in our environment without fearing for your safety.
The DVD contains video presentations featuring Dr. Steve Johnson of the University of Florida IFAS. Developed in collaboration with the Florida Department of Education and the Florida Knowledge Network, the videos provide information about identifying snake species and venomous snake safety. The CD includes printable resources including PowerPoint presentations that accompany Dr. Johnson’s lectures and venomous snake coloring sheets. Bonus material includes information about the invasive Cuban treefrog and Florida frogs coloring pages.
